Early Mountain Pet Nat Blaufrankisch

This is the special project of Maya Hood White, the associate winemaker & viticulturist at EMV -- who did her masters work at UC Davis on sparkling wines. Her experience and love shows. The Shenandoah Blaufrankisch fruit was fermented whole cluster without SO2, then pressed when fermentation was 75% finished. The fermentation to dryness finished in bottle, resulting in a really elegant mousse. The resultant wine is super savory, dry, and delicate, with really clear cranberry fruit, some blood orange intensity, and a lovely, soft tannic finish reminiscent of earl grey tea. Really surprising and delightful! Maybe our favorite vintage yet...

Super limited as always -- and there won't be any next year (alas! Mt. Airy lost all their Blaufrankisch to the Mother's Day Frost). Grab a bottle while they last ...
