Teroldego Rotaliano, in Italian "Oro del Tirolo", from a probable interpretation of the idiom "Tiroler Gold". The rulers of Austria, during their reign in Trentino in fact, considered this wine to be excellent, for both its intense, deep colour, with the aroma of raspberry and blackberry and its full, round flavour, with just the right level of tartness and tannin-free: as the name says, Tiroler Gold.
Lively, bright ruby red with aromas of intense, fruity, raspberries and blackberries and flavors of dry, full-flavoured and full-bodied, well-structured. Made from Teroldego on the old Schwarzmannn rootstock (V.Riparia x V. Rupestris) grown on an alluvial, gravelly, former river-bed and relative basin of the River Noce, composed of stones, known as "sassi robi", covered with a surface layer of top soil.
The grapes, picked by hand, reach the winery where they are crushed and pumped into vats for fermentation with skin contact. After about ten days, it is removed from the vats and, kept warm, malolactic fermentation takes place to ensure natural deacidification. It stands for about six months in steel tanks to maintain the fragrance of the aromas of blackberry and raspberry which are typical of the Teroldego.
